Rara Lake is the largest and most famous lake in the Mugu district of the Karnali region of Nepal. The lake is located at an elevation of 2,972m. After a three-hour walk from the district headquarters Gamgadhi to the west, you can reach Rara Lake. Spread over an area of 10.8 sq km, Rara Lake has a maximum length of 5 km and a maximum width of 3.2 km, and a depth of 167 m. The beauty of Rara Lake cannot be explained by one season. This lake is covered with snow during winter and from the end of May to the first week of July, Rara Lake is covered with flowers.

DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1
We will take a private transfer from Kathmandu to Surkhet. It takes like 13 hours drive to reach Surkhet. The distance from Kathmandu to Surkhet is 605 kilometers. We will have to depart early at 6:30 am in the morning so that we can reach Surkhet on time. We will have lunch on the way. We will reach Surkhet by the evening and check-in at the hotel. Free and relaxed. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2
Today we will wake up early in the morning have breakfast at Hotel and get ready to drive to Kalikot. Our day journey begins at 6:30 AM in the morning. Surkhet to Kalikot is 150 kilometers drive. It takes 7 – 8 hours to reach Kalikot. This is one of the scenic drives of your journey where we will be traveling through Pine Forest with beautiful views. We will have lunch on the way. We will reach Kalikot in the evening. Check-in at Hotel. Free and relaxed. Dinner at the Hotel.

Day 3
We will wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and get ready for our destination “Rara Lake”. We continue our day drive via Sinja and Nagma. Nagma to Rara is an off-road drive. We will be traveling at the edge of the Karnali river via villages and forests. It is around 4 hour drive. Upon reaching Talcha airport further, we will drive for around 20 – 25 minutes where we will park our Jeep. From there it is around 30 minutes walk to reach the lake. As we will be staying in a Guest House on the bank of the Rara Lake, we need to walk a further 2 hours. Upon reaching Rara Lake we check in at Hotel. Free and relax. We will have dinner at Hotel.

Day 4
We will wake up early in the morning. This is our free day at Rara Lake. We can walk around, enjoy boating, have pictures, and any other available optional tour like hike around. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner will be served at the Hotel. Free and relaxed.

Day 5
We will wake up in the morning , do breakfast and begin our returning journey. We will walk couple of hours to catch our jeep where we parked. We will follow the same route while returning back as well. We will have our lunch on the way and following the same path will arrive Kalikot in the evening. Check-in at Hotel. Dinner at Hotel. Free and relax.

Day 6
We will wake up ,have breakfast and take private transfer from Kalikot to Surkhet . We will have lunch on the way. We will reach Surkhet in the evening . Free and relax. Dinner at hotel .
Overnight at Surkhet .
Day 7
We will do breakfast at 7 am in the morning and take private transfer to Kathmandu from Surkhet. We will do lunch on the way and reach Kathmandu by the evening. We will come to the end of our tour.
